Conditions for Making an Appointment with the U.S. Consulate

Usually, a Mexican national or a citizen of another country covered by the visa waiver program may be able to travel to the United States without a visa under the Visa Waiver Program. You should apply for a non-immigrant visa if you don't qualify for the Visa Waiver Program or want to travel for work, school, or participate in an exchange program.

Visa applicants must physically present for an interview at the American embassy or consulate. For this interview, you must make an appointment, either online through our website or over the phone with the call center.

Necessary Documents

You must have the following files and information accessible to schedule an appointment for a non-immigrant visa and submit a U.S. visa applicant form:

1. A letter of appointment from the American Consulate.

2. Confirming an appointment

A. Which you can get after registering on the ImmigrantVisas.state.gov page of the American Consulate website.

b. Don't forget to print off the appointment confirmation and bring it with you to the doctor's appointment.

3. (Keep in mind that these forms are free! You should not pay for them.)

4. Valid nation of origin or current Mexican passport.

5. If you have them, vaccination records.

6. A sealed envelope provided by a consulate or embassy inside the nation (Non-immigrant visas).

7. You must show your spectacles at the time of the inspection if you wear them.

8. You must produce a medical report that details your diagnosis and treatment if you are or were being treated for a specific ailment.

9. You don't have to quit taking the drug you're already taking.

Restrictions on Scheduling Changes

Please be aware that there are just a few scheduling options available, despite non-immigrant visa fees being valid for a full calendar year. Every year, the U.S. Embassy arranges tens of thousands of appointments for non-immigrant visas. It must accept requests for brand-new appointments and applicants who need to reschedule their appointments for whatever reason.

Only two complimentary reschedulings (excluding the initial appointment) are allowed for applicants. An applicant can only book a fresh date after a 90-day waiting period if the subsequent rescheduling attempt is postponed. Please schedule your interview in advance when applying for a visa.
